There are lots of advantages in using games in the classroom.
I think it is a great way to motivate students. As a teacher, I think games are
a great resource for extra practice. Students are less likely to get bored and
lose focus. It challenges the student’s thinking in many ways by helping them
think critically as well as problem solve on the spot. Many teachers are
against allowing students to play games in the classroom because they think it
distracts students or it’s not productive. I use games in the classroom to
reward my students for positive behavior. Looking at games from the student’s
point of shows us that they are willing to work harder if they are given a
chance to play the games they enjoy. They find the games to be stimulating and
entertaining at the same time. They like to challenge themselves and each other
to reach the high scores. They also like to play against one another or team
up. This helps build leadership and team building skills. I am definitely in
favor of using games in my classroom.
